A global diabetes solution provider wanted to evaluate the current status of API and SDK offerings for key competitors. The main goal was to better understand how competitors were using APIs and SDKs to connect to 3rd party applications and use this information to guide their own API integration strategy and API business model/marketing strategy.
Evaluated competitor offerings and strategies across multiple dimensions: the project examined API/SDK offerings from more than 40/50 companies from EMEA, APAC and North America. R2G analyzed and characterized the API/SDK offering for each competitor, including architectural style, supported data formats, and accessibility to developers as well as API/SDK business model.
Defining best in class: R2G pinpointed the competitor company with the most advanced, best-in-class API/SDK strategy to function as a benchmark and to guide strategic recommendations.
Developed strategic options for increased device distribution, revenue generation and cost reduction: R2G recommended the client to follow the best-in-class benchmark example and improve upon this by offering additional services as well as to adopt a similar overall API business model and marketing strategy.
